Hi Jesse:

Charlson.ado is based on the paper by Quan et a. (2005) Coding algoriths
for defining comorbidities in icd-9-cm and icd-10 administrative data.
Med Care, 43: 1130-39. This paper only includes the enhanced ICD-9-CM
diagnosis codes.

Regards,
Sebastian

Hello,
I'm working with the Charlson co morbidity ado program. Does anyone
know if ICD-9 procedure codes should be included as well as ICD-9
diagnosis codes? The original Charlson reference (J Chron Dis v 40,
373-383, 1987) only used diagnoses, however Romano's modification that
allowed ICD-9 usage(J Clin Epi v 46, 1075-1079, 1993) does. I'm not
sure which method the writers of the ado file used and could not find
any documentation in the help file.

Thanks,
JSM
