I believe it has been renamed to strpos(). See help whatsnew8to9
(search for functions) for more information.

Hi Statalisters:

Does anyone know why the -index- string function is not documented
anymore in the help file in Stata 9? -indexnot- is documented, but to
me this is a less useful funciton. I was trying to explain -index- to
someone and ended up frustrating them by telling them to look for it
in the help. Is it not being supported anymore, or is this a mistake?
Thanks, Tim
