Incidentally, a number of text editors allow formatting text to a
given number of characters per line.  This is what I did when writing
SMCL help files.  I wrote everything with line wrap on then changed to
fixed line length and my editor wrapped lines with hard returns at 80
characters.  I was using NoteTab: http://www.notetab.com .
