I'm not sure what the prof has in mind either, and I totally share 
Nick's concerns.  However, Paul Millar's -bic- command may come 
closest to what is being asked for; but it makes the selections based 
on BIC tests rather than F tests.  It also works after many commands 
besides -regress-.
