st: outreg2 formatting question

I'm having the same problem using both Stata 8 and Stata 9: 

The -td- option of outreg2 is not behaving the way the help file
suggests it should.  I try this test:

sysuse auto, clear
reg price mpg rep78 headroom trunk weight length turn displacement
outreg2 using r:\alex\test1.txt, nolabel bracket noaster tstat td(2)
replace
outreg2 using r:\alex\test2.txt, nolabel bracket noaster tstat td(4)
replace

The only difference between test1.txt and test2.txt is in the number of
digits reported for the R-squared.  In both cases, the tstat is reported
to 2 digits.  Why is this happening?
