If the model is linear (i.e., the response variable is continuous
rather than binary), then Emelda will be better off with much faster
-xtmixed- command. It will look, in the simplest form, something like

xtmixed depvar age gender || family: || individual:

Dear all

Could someone please advice me on how to fit a 3 level multilevel

in stata to calculate incidence rates from a cohort study. I have
