Dear stata users,

while the non-graphical interface of stata8 is working fine, the GUI
interface is not working on my linux 64 machine. I'm using SUSE 9.3
professional, Kernel 2.6.11. Specifically, when typing xstata-se in the
command line the following error message came up:

Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 708 (gdk_string_extents):
assertion `font != NULL' failed.

Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 708 (gdk_string_extents):

Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 249 (gdk_font_unref): assertion

I recently moved from Ubuntu to SUSE. In Ubuntu, everything was fine.

Any ideas ?

Marcus
