Some time ago in a post to this list (http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2003-08/msg00288.html ) Roger Newson provided a reference supporting the reporting of confidence intervals versus P values:

Douglas Altman, David Machin, Trevor Bryant, Martin Gardner. Statistics with Confidence. London: British Medical Journal Books; 2000. ISBN: 0727913751

Can anyone supply other references, (particularly papers v. books) supporting the preference for reporting confidence intervals?
In case Buzz does not have a copy of the Altman et al. book, one of its key references supporting confidence intervals is

Rothman K. A vote of confidence. New England Journal of Medicine 1978; 299: 1362-1363.

I hope this helps.
