Sergio,
changing the STATATMP windows environment variable from WITHIN Stata would not bring the wanted effect as it would only be valid for the the duration of the -shell- command to set it (i.e. a few ms)
What's been asked for was how to start the batch to launch Stata FROM the desktop, which is really just a double click, so I assume, that can't be the issue here,
Christian

-shell filename.bat- ?

You said u located it in the desktop.. thats not really a good idea,
since the real location is something like

"C:\Documents and Settings\scorreia\Desktop"

Instead, try to place the BAT file in Stata's working directory. Use
-pwd- to find out what your working directory is.

I have tried to set a temporary fix for Windows users(as explained on your web page http://www.stata.com/support/faqs/data/statatmp.html).

I created a .BAT file, which I saved on my desktop. I know this is an elementary question but how do you run this .BAT file? Whatever I do it doesn't seems that Stata is recognizing my command.

Thank you for your help.
