When a program is no longer being updated and the authors are nowhere to be found, would it be legit to add a note to that effect to its description on SSC, e.g. something like

"NOTE: This program has not been updated since 2002. Users may wish to consider -estout- as an alternative."

I suppose you want to be careful about bestowing blessings on some programs as opposed to others; but on the other hand a note like this might save some people a lot of time and frustration.
