Thank you for your replys.
Though stcmd has already been installed in my Stata, I never
tried such a convenient tool.
# Actually, I completely forgot it :-).
>forvalues y=1983/2004 {
> stcmd mat`y'.xls mat`y'.dta
>}
> or from within Stata with stcmd:
>
> stcmd mat*.xls *.dta.
Both of the methods above worked all right.
It surely saves a lot of trouble in file conversions.
