-score- with a single argument does 
indeed produce scores (values) for 
the first principal component ("eigenfactor"
appears to be a term you invented). 

Otherwise, the difference between principal components
analysis and factor analysis is explained
in the manual and in essentially every 
multivariate text worth talking about.
