Dear Katarina and David:

In Stata8 it is fairly easy to download an ado file to new locations and
having Stata looking there. I am not sure whether the commands where called
the same in Stata 7.

The very first time (assuming you want to work in c:\temp and assuming it is
writeable. You may put your own directory instead of c:\temp if you prefer)
. net set ado "c:\temp"
. adopath + "c:\temp"

Now you can install whatever you want using your preferred method.

Renzo

is there a way to get Stata to look for the ado file somewhere else (i.e.
in a folder in which the user has writing privileges)? i've come up
against this issue myself.
