Regarding Clint Thompson's suggestion to look at a " small section in
Van Belle's "Statistical Rules of Thumb" that discusses sample size
calculations in terms of relative changes, e.g. percent.", this chapter
is available on the web at http://www.vanbelle.org/. Go to "Book
Contents" and Chapter 2 on Sample Size is directly available there.
I have the book and I like it very much.
