Apology accepted, and thanks to Nick, Mark and the rest of my legal team :) Like Nick suggested, if you like that paragraph, you should buy the whole book, because it has a lot more good stuff in it (and I'm certainly not going to scan or retype all of it for you!)

In general, I find the online help good for providing "how to" advice on syntax; but you gain a much better understanding of when and why to do things, and how they work, by reading the manuals. While they are not a substitute for complete statistical texts, the manuals have lots of examples, brief explanations, and technical notes that help to clear up otherwise puzzling things.
