st: Simple question

Hello All,


I am new to Stata and have a simple question. I have a variable that is
coded 0, 1, 2 and I want to assign names for each of 0, 1, 2, but I keep
getting an error message stating unable to label strings. I am sure there is
a simple way to do this, but as I do not have manuals, I am stuck. Thanks.
