As a reminder, since it takes a while for the awareness of new features to sink in <g>, Stat/Transfer version seven will now read fixed format ASCII data. Users might find its syntax friendlier than Stata's native dictionary syntax.

Also many datasets obtained from the ICPSR come with an OSIRIS dictionary. Stat/Transfer can interpret those as well.
