What is a single-user license?
- A single-user license for Stat/Transfer allows for installation on a
single machine, or if the license will be used by only one individual,
installation on multiple of their computers with a maximum of three
activations. If multiple users need to install Stata on multiple
individual machines, they will require multiple single-user licenses.
- A single-user license may not be installed on a server and shared out
over a network. It must be installed on an individual machine.
- Single-user licenses are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
(32-bit and 64-bit).
What is a Workgroup license?

A Workgroup license for Stat/Transfer is a volume purchase of activation
codes. Each activation code can be used to install Stat/Transfer on a
machine and can be used by anyone who uses that machine.
- A Workgroup license for N users may not be installed on a server
and shared out over a network. It must be installed on a maximum of
N individual machines.

If you require a license for installation on a server, you must purchase a
lease (see below).

Workgroup licenses are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (32-bit and
64-bit).
What is a lease license?
- A lease license for Stat/Transfer is a cumulative-use license that may
be installed on a server or on individual machines.
- Lease licenses are available in increments of 25. The minimum size lease
license is for 25 users.
- Lease licenses must be purchased to cover the total number of named
users that will access Stat/Transfer during the lease period.
- Lease licenses are available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux (32-bit and
64-bit) and Solaris (64-bit SPARC and 64-bit x86-64).
What is an Educational Lab license?
- A Stat/Transfer Educational Lab license is appropriate for student use
or for use by faculty for teaching in a lab-type setting. It is not
appropriate for faculty research, government or corporate training.
- A Stat/Transfer Educational Lab may only be purchased at the same time
as a Stata Lab or by a customer with an existing Stata Lab license.
- The minimum-size Educational Lab license is 10. You will receive an
activation code for each of the licensed Lab users, and you will install
one activation code per computer in the Lab. A Lab license may not be
installed on a server. If you require a license for installation on a
server, you will need a lease license (see above).
- Educational Lab licenses are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
(32-bit and 64-bit).
