ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research

June–August 2014

The ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research is recognized throughout the world as the preeminent forum for basic and advanced training in the methodologies and technologies of social science research. We serve a diverse multidisciplinary and international constituency. Our general instructional philosophy emphasizes the integration of methodological strategies with the theoretical and practical concerns that arise in research on substantive social issues. The ICPSR Summer Program also creates a unique and supportive social environment that facilitates professional networking and encourages the exchange of ideas about the theory and practice of social science research.

ICPSR has offered educational opportunities through the Summer Program since 1963, when the first cohort of 82 participants arrived in Ann Arbor for intensive training in quantitative methods. The Program has grown mightily since that time. In 2013, it welcomed a record-setting 1,044 participants who represented 34 nations, 24 academic disciplines, and 322 institutions. The Program’s 82 courses were taught by 97 faculty members who are recognized leaders in their fields. They represented 57 national and international institutions. Now in its 51st year, the Program continues to provide quality instruction and to offer an impressive range of course options.

The Summer Program takes place from early June to late August. In addition to two four-week sets of courses in Ann Arbor, Michigan, ICPSR offers intensive one-week workshops in Ann Arbor and at several additional sites.

In 2014, ICPSR is offering a number of workshops that will be of particular interest to the Stata user community:
