Announcement and call for papers

TStat S.r.l., the certified Stata distributor in Italy, announces the fifth Italian Stata Users Group meeting, to be held in Milan on October 20–21, 2008, at the Jolly Machiavelli Hotel. The meeting will give Stata users working in different research areas the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and information on new applications of the software. Stata users interested in contributing to the meeting are therefore encouraged to submit their proposals to the scientific committee. We particularly encourage proposals based on

  • developing new commands or procedures currently unavailable in Stata 10;
  • using Stata in previously unpublished empirical research; and
  • other applications of Stata for solving problems of general interest, for example, data management.

The meeting will be organized into 5 sessions. Each session will include three presentations of approximately 20 minutes, followed by 10 to 15 minutes of discussion. The first session will be reserved for an invited speaker. We will offer two extended sessions on the second day of the meeting: one of these will focus on Stata’s programming language, Mata, and the second topic will be announced later. More detailed information regarding the extended sessions will be published on TStat’s web site by the end May. A detailed program of the meeting will be available on the TStat web site by the end of July.

If you are interested in presenting your work, please submit an abstract in electronic format before July 15, 2008, to the scientific committee at the following email address: statausers@tstat.it. Include your name, affiliation, and a telephone number in the email. The scientific committee will make a preliminary selection on the basis of submitted abstracts by July 30, 2008. The final version of the paper must be submitted by October 4, 2008.
