Announcement and call for papers
TStat S.r.l., certified Stata distributor in Italy, announces the third
Italian Stata Users Group meeting, to be held in Rome on October 9–10,
2006, at the Hotel Artemide, Via Nazionale 23, Rome. The meeting will give
Stata users working in different research areas the opportunity to exchange
ideas, experiences, and information on new applications of the software.
Stata users interested in contributing to the meeting are therefore
encouraged to submit their proposals to the scientific committee. We
particularly encourage proposals based on:
- developing new commands or procedures;
- using Stata in previously unpublished empirical research;
- other applications of Stata for solving problems of general
interest, for example, data management.
The meeting will be organized in four sessions. Each session will include
three presentations of approximately 20 minutes, followed by 10–15
minutes of discussion. The first session will be reserved for an invited
speaker. Two training sessions will be offered on the second day of the meeting:
Analysis of Survey Data in Stata: led by Jeff Pitblado (StataCorp)
This talk discusses Stata's features for analyzing survey and correlated
data and will explain how and when to use the three major variance
estimators for survey and correlated data: the linearization estimator,
balanced repeated replications, and the clustered jackknife (the last two
having been added in Stata 9). The talk will also discuss sampling designs
and stratification, including Stata's new features for estimation with data
from multistage designs and for applying poststratification. A theme of the
seminar will be how you can make inferences with correct coverage from data
collected by single stage or multistage surveys or from data with inherent
correlation, such as data from longitudinal studies.
Analysis of Panel Data in Stata: led by Una-Louise Bell (TStat) and
Giovanni Bruno (Universita Commerciale L Bocconi)
Details to come.
A detailed program
will be available on the TStat website at the end of August.
