The first Italian Stata Users Group meeting will be held on October 25, 2004
in Rome.
The objective of the meeting is to provide Stata users working in different
research areas with the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences,
and information on new applications of the software.
The content of the meeting is being organized by Una–Louise Bell,
(TStat S.r.l.), Rino Bellocco (Karolinska Institutet), Giovanni Capelli
(Universitą degli Studi di Cassino), and Marcello Pagano
(Harvard School of Public Health).
Notes on the program
The meeting will be organized into four sessions. Each session will include
two presentations of approximately 30 minutes, followed by 10 to 15 minutes
of discussion. The first session will be reserved for two invited speakers.
The preliminary program can be viewed below. Abstracts will be posted at a
later date.

Submission information
The organizing committee welcomes abstracts on based on
- the development of new commands or procedures currently unavailable in
Stata 8;
- the use of Stata in previously unpublished empirical research;
- other applications of Stata for the solution of problems of general
interest; for example, data management.
Abstracts should be sent by email to
statausers@tstat.it
by June 30, 2004. Please include the authors' names and affiliations
and contact details of the presenting author, including name, email address,
and telephone number.
A preliminary selection will be made by the scientific committee, on the
basis of submitted abstracts, by July 17. Preliminary drafts of the
accepted contributions are to be submitted by August 16 and the final
version by September 30.

The cost to attend is 30,00 Euros. This fee covers lunch and
refreshments. An optional dinner, at extra cost, will be held on Monday
evening at a restaurant to be named at a later date.
