StataCorp, located in College Station, Texas near the Texas A&M campus, develops and distributes Stata, software for statistical analysis. Stata statistical software has complete statistical, graphical, and data-management capabilities and is used by researchers of all disciplines.

SS-2: Staff Statistician 2

StataCorp is seeking a person with a strong understanding of statistics to join its technical services staff in College Station, Texas.

Job duties include

• answering statistical questions from users via email
• monitoring and contributing to the Stata listserver
• teaching NetCourses (distance learning over the web)
• creating technical support materials such as FAQs
• contributing to Stata Journal
• testing new methods and features in Stata
• mentoring StataCorp staff statisticians

The candidate must have

• a master's degree or equivalent knowledge in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, or another science-related field
• experience programming a statistical package
• excellent technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally in English

The preferred candidate will have

• experience programming in Stata
• a strong mathematical background
• experience in a scientific programming language, such as C, or a scripting language, such as Perl
• demonstrated technical writing skills
• proficiency in a language other than English
• job experience in your field
