SS-1: Staff Statistician 1

StataCorp is seeking a person with a strong understanding of statistics to join its technical services staff in College Station, Texas.

Job duties include

• answering statistical questions from users via email
• monitoring and contributing to the Stata listserver
• teaching NetCourses (distance learning offered over the web)
• creating technical support materials, such as FAQs and NetCourses
• contributing to the Stata Journal
• testing, evaluating, and documenting new methods and features in Stata
• mentoring StataCorp staff statisticians
• attending user meetings and representing Stata to the professional research community

The candidate must have

• a Ph.D. or equivalent knowledge in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, or another science-related field
• experience programming a statistical package
• excellent technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally in English
• knowledge of statistical applications and empirical practice

The preferred candidate will have

• experience programming in Stata
• a strong mathematical background
• experience in a scientific programming language, such as C, or a scripting language, such as Perl
• teaching experience in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics or mathematics
• demonstrated technical writing skills
• job experience in your field
