StataCorp, located in College Station, Texas near the Texas A&M campus, develops and distributes Stata, software for statistical analysis. Stata statistical software has complete statistical, graphical, and data-management capabilities and is used by researchers of all disciplines.

ED-2: Technical Editor

StataCorp is seeking a Technical Editor to join its staff in College Station, Texas.

Job duties include

• reviewing and correcting for style, clarity, grammar, and punctuation any writing intended for use in Stata products or submitted by a Stata user for use in our peer-reviewed Stata Journal or our Stata Press publishing arm

The candidate must have

• A master’s degree in English, technical writing, or a related field, or editing experience
• A demonstrated ability to read and edit text that includes mathematical formulas
• Knowledge of TeX or LaTeX (the document preparation system we use)

The preferred candidate will have

• The desire and ability to learn the basics of the Stata software
• The ability to develop and follow StataCorp style guidelines
• The ability to work with research professionals to ensure that published content is relevant, accurate, and well written
• At least a very basic knowledge of statistics

The candidate must be willing and able to relocate to the College Station/Bryan area.
